Das Vogelnest

3321 Schulle Road, Round Top, TX

Welcome to Das Vogelnest. Your Quiet Texas Retreat Awaits.

A once-in-a-lifetime ownership opportunity awaits at Das Vogelnest – a true legacy property. Own a piece of Texas history quietly nestled among native hardwoods on the eastern edge of the Hill Country, and only a stone’s skip away from the booming antique and design mecca of Round Top-Warrenton.

Just off the beaten path, this tranquil retreat affords owners the opportunity to bless others by providing a serene respite for guests to unplug, relax and reflect. Designed to accommodate groups upwards of 50-60, the current owners enlisted a local Round Top-based builder to construct the two bunkhouses with scalability, to potentially duplicate and build more of the same design on the grounds.

The approximately 3,000sf main residence was constructed in 1863 as a wedding gift, and moved from New Ulm, TX to its current location.  Additions were completed in 2007 and 2011.  In true Southern style, the front porch extends the length of the front of the house, and beckons guests in to the grand lodge room and kitchen. This main area seamlessly combines the warmth of the wood burning fireplace and majestic vaulted ceilings clad with wood beam accents, with the modernly amenitized kitchen. Several downstairs living areas provide flexibility for multiple smaller groups to gather under the same roof. Two large downstairs bedrooms and a sizable second floor bunkroom provide ample sleeping arrangements in this primary home. The separate groundskeeper’s cabin is situated just behind this main residence.

Newly constructed in 2017, the two bunk houses are identical in layout only, as each has its own tasteful theme and décor. The large central gathering area, eating area, and kitchenette are adorned with hardwood floors, and surrounded by four large bedrooms and a smaller back bedroom, all of which combine to comfortably sleep 18. Every convenience was considered in their design and functionality, encouraging relaxation and fellowship while providing modern conveniences.

Also constructed in 2017, the main dining hall seats 52, and was built as the primary spot for large programs and dining gatherings. The full commercial kitchen was designed, installed, and is maintained by Kesco in Bryan, TX. Audio/Video of College Station designed, installed, and maintains the A/V system, which was designed to provide state of the art programming capabilities for presentations, movies, music, etc. The oversized laundry facility is conveniently tucked in the corner of this building.

Additional attributes of this incredible property include a storage barn/garage, fully stocked pond with covered pier, 1-mile prayer walk, regulation-sized basketball and volleyball courts under a large, covered pavilion, and potting house with vegetable, flower and rose gardens, and private gated entry. All buyers must be prequalified.

Main House

This historic, pre-civil war, two-story home was built in 1863 as a wedding present, for the bride, from her husband. It was later moved from New Ulm, TX to its current location, nestled in the trees of Round Top, TX. In 2007 & 2011, the house was enhanced with the addition of east & west wings, a massive front porch, and a cozy family room on the back. The balance of original and antique finishes & furnishings throughout are tastefully complimented by modern amenities and updates for a comfortable stay.
